From the Director
“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1
I love February, it is such a busy month. Not only do I get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with 225 preschoolers but we start enrolling for the new school year. There is also a special Women’s Gathering on Friday and Saturday, February 17/18 at the Compass Center. Come hear Laurie Cole, a gifted speaker, Bible teacher and founder of Priority Ministries. Through her sharing of God’s Word, you will learn how to experience contentment in every season of life. Cost: $36.00“ There Is a Season”—Friday and Saturday, February 17/18 at the Compass Center. The cost is $36.00. More information will come home in your child’s folder.
Did you know?
· Compass Church has an app you can download for free? You can get to the preschool’s website, read the monthly newsletters and most importantly listen to a variety of sermon series.
· Dolores Rodriguez in the VW Bug Class was just awarded her Child Development Credential (CDA) and five other teachers are working on getting their CDAs.
· Preschool Summer Camp will be held Mondays – Thursdays the week of June 4th and June 11th.
· Compass Christian Preschool is hosting a two day Early Childhood Conference for early childhood centers in the Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake areas including Whites Chapel, Creative Learning Center, Noah’s Ark Preschool, First Presbyterian Preschool in Grapevine, Grapevine Christian and First United Methodist in Euless. There will be close to 200 teachers attending.
Patterns and Shapes are the focus for the first part of February. We will use all of our basic skills and add another dimension to them. There will be a special art project for Friends Around the World Day in Pre-K and TK. The three year old classes will be introduced to the art style of another culture. We always talk about the beauty of God’s World and how we can represent it through our art work.
This February will be all about our bodies. We will learn about our heart, lungs, muscles and bones. We will be moving and grooving, learning and growing. During our time together we will read, sing songs, ask questions and make new discoveries. I am looking forward to all the action and reaction!
A Note from our Former Music Teacher
It is with a sad heart that I write this note. Due to some personal health issues and the need for time away from teaching during my recovery, I am resigning from my position at the preschool. At this time my own health and well-being needs to be my first priority. I have been a member of Compass Christian Church since 1984 and will continue to worship here and support the ministry of the Preschool. I taught at the preschool for 10+ years and during this time I have been truly blessed and will miss teaching so very much. Twenty five years ago my own child was one of the first students in a pilot “mother’s day out” program. That program has been a pleasure to attend, support, pray for and help be a part of the growth changing it into the successful preschool it is today.
I am thankful for these memories! Blessings – Bessie Porter
For the remainder of the school year Gayle Thompson (our current art teacher) will be teaching music for the one, two and three year old classes as well as the TK. Suzanne Hewitt will work with the four year old classes to prepare for our end of the year program and graduation. We are currently accepting applications for a music teacher for the 2012/2013 school year.
