From the Director
I hope by now you have all started to read the book I sent home with your child. I will have some extra copies next week so if you have a friend or family member that would like one please come see me in the office. It is first come, first serve.
This month is so busy with picture day, pumpkin patches and pumpkin waffles but it is my favorite time of year. The children have started settling into school and are really starting to learn, make new friends and feel good about themselves. I love watching them at chapel each week and hearing them sing. Later on in the year we will invite parents to come experience chapel with their children, it a wonderful opportunity to worship together. As always, if you ever have a question or concern please contact me.

Fall in love with music! My name is Ms. Suzanne and I get the wonderful opportunity to teach music to all the children at the preschool. During class, the children sing, dance and play instruments to music that closely follows the monthly curriculum. Just as all children are born with the potential to learn their native language; all children are born with the potential to learn to understand music. It is important to expose our children to different styles of music to develop their musical ear. Each month, songs from around the world are used for dancing, singing, and instrument play. Every class has an opportunity to play on instruments during rhythm time and the Bebop Band. Learning to play our rhythm instruments together promotes physical coordination, attention span, and community. Last month, we learned how to clap and make those claps loud or soft and fast or slow. During October, we will have fun learning how to play rhythm sticks. The Bebop Band is a time for self-expression as we play along to instrumental music. Each month, you can look forward to hearing new songs and learning all about the instruments that we are playing.

Philanthropy for November
Each month, we will collect items for a different charity. This month we will be collecting gift cards for local senior living centers. Almost all of them have monthly bingo games for their residents. I have volunteered at a few and I can’t give out bananas and little packets of tissues anymore. Whatever value gift card you want to give will be appreciated – $5, $10 or $20 to one of the following stores. I can’t tell you how happy they are going to be to not get a banana. Cards can be sent in your child’s folder or placed in the box in the preschool office.
