November Newsletter – Thanksgiving!

From the Director

The holidays are almost upon us! Although this can be a very exciting time for young children it can also be overwhelming. To help your child understand the meaning of the holidays, include them in the preparation. They can help prepare food, make placemats and work with you to set the table. When visiting relatives make sure that all the ladies put their purses out of the children’s reach and that guns are locked away. If your child is seeing family members that they don’t really know, don’t force them to hug them. Explain to the adults that your child will need time to get to know them first. Try to keep your child on their regular schedule or as close to it as possible.  Below are some links to help you make Thanksgiving fun for you and your children.

Musical Notes

Music is the feast for the soul!  Just like a feast, it is important to have a variety of things from which to pick- old favorites and new mix together to satisfy the senses.   Each month, favorite songs like I’m a Little Teapot and Hey Diddle Diddle are mixed in with new songs from around the world.  This month, we are listening to classic American fiddle music as well as songs that have origins across the pond.  The 1s and 2s will be doing the turkey hop and shaking things up with egg shakers.  The 3s are learning their songs for the Christmas program as well as countingTen Little Turkeys and learning how Oats and Bean and Barley Grow.  The 4s and TK are learning about sound and how to make music with Boomwhackers (they are as fun to play as their name!)
