Fall 2020 = First Day September 15

Compass Christian Preschool Families,

Thank you for your patience as we work to prepare for the upcoming school year. On Friday, July 31, 2020, the GCISD School Board changed their start date for in-school learning to Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Because of this change, we will move up our start date to Tuesday, September 15, 2020. This start date will allow our staff to come in the week before to get the classrooms ready for our students. Below you will find more information about the start of school and guidelines in regard to COVID-19.

Parent Night and Meet the Teacher

Parent Night and Meet the Teacher will look different for the 20/21 school year. We are working with our teaching staff to set up times for smaller groups of students and parents to visit the classrooms. These dates and times will be sent to you two weeks prior to school starting and be scheduled on September 10th and 11th. We will also provide a virtual message from the director explaining the upcoming school year.

Students will not be required to wear masks while attending preschool. If a child’s parent or guardian would like their child to wear a mask at school, we will encourage them to wear their mask with gentle reminders. Our staff will be required to wear a mask or face shield while in common areas of the school and when necessary in the classrooms.

Health Screenings and Policies

All students and staff will be required to have a health screening including checking for a temperature upon entering the building and at drop off. Please do not send your child to school if they have the following symptoms –

If a student shows any of these signs or if our staff suspects a child is “not well” they will be isolated in our “Health Station” and sent home. If a student or staff member is diagnosed with COVID-19 then they may not return to school until the all of the following criteria is met –

If a student of staff member is not showing the above symptoms and they have had close FIRST PERSON contact with someone with lab confirmed COVID-19, their health should be monitored AT HOME for 14 days from the last known date of exposure.

All parents and staff will be immediately notified if Compass Christian Preschool has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school. We will also report the case to the Tarrant County Health Department and Texas Childcare Licensing. They will guide us on any actions that will be required in regard to classroom and school closures.

Stable Classrooms and Social Distancing

Our staff and students will be practicing social distancing by remaining in stable classrooms. We will be eliminating combining classrooms for special events, chapel, music, large motor play and outdoor play time. Our students will still get to enjoy all of these wonderful programs, they will just do so in a different way. We will adjust these requirements if possible as we move through the school year.

School Closings

If Compass Christian Preschool has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school. We will also report the case to the Tarrant County Health Department and Childcare Licensing. They will guide us on any actions that will be required in regard to classroom and school closures. If GCISD delays the start of school or makes any district-wide closures, we will follow their direction to the best of our ability.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

The following protocols, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, are based on current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Texas Childcare Licensing.

  • The most effective tool to combat any outbreak of viruses, including coronavirus, is the electrostatic application of germicidal mist. The mist is a germicidal detergent designed for use in hospitals and health care settings. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released an emerging viral pathogen policy, which approves the use of germicidal mist for combating coronavirus, or COVID-19. Electrostatic patented technology sprayers provide an electrical charge to solutions, allowing them to wrap conductive surfaces with an effective and even coverage. This mist will be used the nights before school is in session after the building is emptied for the evening.
  • Bathrooms, classrooms and high touchpoints will be receive scheduled cleanings throughout the day when children are not in the direct vicinity.
  • All of our Compass Staff will complete the state required COVID-19 training before the start of the school year.

Please remember that if you are withdrawing from the program, you need to notify us via email by August 8, 2020. Only drops made before this date will receive a registration fee refund. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

God’s Peace,
